Has anyone had the same problem?

Does it settle to a normal idle after warmed up?

Any other problems while driving?

Could be the coolant temp sensor.

No it doesn't settle the idle is still high even when the car is started for a while

Clean the throttle body, check the EGR isnt blocked, change the coolant temp sensor

Is a throttle body check/clean ever done as part of a dealer service routine?

Could be a turbo or something to worry about?

Very unlikely to be the turbo. Do what we’ve recommended and go from there

Quick update, haven’t changed anything as of yet, idle seems to come down just under 1000 rpm when driving for a bit

Just under 1000 is still high. Should be around 680-750 depending on engine type.

Try getting someone to check what the engine coolant temperature is claiming to be - or as suggested, just replace the engine coolant temperature sensor.
