i have been lookin to upgrade my brakes to 239mm which i have been told can be taken off mk1 golfs & roccos and bolt directly on to the mk3 but then someone said about 256mm brakes, does anyone know what car these are to be taken off? also what is required to complete the upgrade.

Yeah, the 256mm will give better braking. You will need 14" wheels to run them and the callipers and carriers off the old audi coupe 5 cyl, pre 86'.
This is a popular conversion with mk 1 golfs and plenty of folks have caught onto the idea. This makes them really hard to get hold of from scrap yards and breakers. I tried about 20 places most of them being VW / Audi specialists and most had sold out, the last one I tried had some.

They should be, providing it's a pre 86' with 256mm vented discs. Get em quick before someone else does.

The standard polo one is adequate, but people tend to upgrade them to the 22mm one from the late Mk 2 Golf 16v.
