Hum, I'd say it was the side lights that are causing you issues there!
Edit:- that is very cheap for premium bulbs, so I'm guessing that you will not find even these bulbs are too good, the thing about head light bulbs is/are, they need to be well made and that includes making sure that the build of these bulbs into their mounting bases is done very accurately so that focus and alignment are the same as the original premium Philips bulbs that VW Group tend to fit as standard.
My plan has always to be buy quality uprated bulbs, like Phillips Extremes, if you want to sort out that bulb out issue you will need to either fit some quality side light bulbs from maybe Phillips but the ones with the blue coating that give out a crisp white light - or go the way others have done and buy more expensive LED bulbs that have built in shunt resistors to fool the car's system into thinking that it has the correct filament bulbs fitted.
Bottom line, try again and buy uprated head light bulbs and matching side light bulbs from some where like Powerbulbs as buying cheap can mean buying twice and throwing your money away?

Yeah it will be the led side lights are not can bus compatible.
Just stick your stock lamps back in and it should sort out the problem.

Cheers for the advice, I'll certainly look into getting some Phillips side lights instead.

Powerbulbs used to supply a pair of matching side bulbs with the Philips uprated head light bulbs - that worked well.

If you buy Phillips White Vision Ultras from Powerbulbs, that would cost you £22.49 for a pair, just a suggestion.
Edit:- and if they don't give you a pair of free matching side light bulbs you can always place an order with them for the matching White Vision normal filament version of side light bulbs for £8.25 a pair.

I've edited my posting to include the side light bulbs, but the price I quoted was without the claimed 25% discount that they giving right now.
Edit:- so that makes them £6.19

If you do change your headlights then I'd recommend the osram nightbreaker laser lamp.
They use 100% xenon gas inside, so will be about the best road legal incandescent lamp you can get.

If you can find any free cash, maybe have a look on ECP, ie Euro Car Parts as they have another of their "special" discount codes.
As long as that works out cheaper than PowerBulbs.

Oh right cheers! I've already ordered from powerbulbs. It says the Philips headlight bulbs come with free sidelights, but ive ordered some sidelights just in case, as if I get the free sidelights I can use them on my numberplate. Once I've changed the lights that will be it for mods on my SE so I can save for my next car, but at least it will look a little smarter for my upcoming meet.
