Dashboard middle screen flicker

Hello,
The middle part of my 2011 Polo 1.6 Tdi bluemotion, dashboard has some of it's digits dimmed as shown in the picture. Sometimes they're just dimmed (usually before starting the engine), then sometimes it flickers between this and normal. After driving for a few minutes it usually goes back to being normal.
Might this indicate an alternator problem, since my start stop is also unavailable more often than usual? No other lights in the dashboard or anywhere else flicker.
