Hey guys...
The bulb in the cig lighter seems to be dead. Car has done 21.700
Miles, so a bit early.
Well i just cant figure out how to remove the socket.
Any guides or help? I cant be the only one to encounter this issue.

Well I guess you'll either have to replace it or live with a broken bulb.
For removal, VW should have a special tool for it. Otherwise, you'll have to take out the centre console (armrest, handbrake, gear lever, climatronic cover, upper center console, lower center console) to remove it.

I guess the special tool is the way forward.
Crazy how complicated it is to change such a tiny bulb.

Guys,
just to add today i used a large binder clip, take out the skinny metal springs from one binder clamp.

use silver part
Insert it in the cigarete lighter in the groove on the right and left, and then just put your key blade in the middle so the two metal pieces spread out a easily pull up. no need for force. Then remove the connector from the lighter.
To remove the right ring use a small flat head screwdriver and insert it in the clips they are at 12 and 6 o'clock. Work one clip then lift a bit, then second clip lift, then first clip etc .... no need for force.
