What is the PCD, centre bore, width and offset of the L/R wheels? Without that information it’s impossible to say if they’d fit. You also need to check there won’t be any issues with a 15” wheel fitting over the GTI’s brake discs too.
Diameter of GTI standard 17” wheel+ 215/40 R17 tyre is approx 604mm and a 15” Land Rover wheel with 195/80 R15 tyres is approximately x 693 mm so with the much larger rolling radius of the Land Rover wheels, there’s a good chance the won’t give sufficient clearance to fit under the wheel arch without rubbing. Your speedo would also under-read by around 13%.
I wouldn’t bother with the Land Rover wheels, even if they’re cheap; buy cheap and buy twice as the saying goes.
Edit; I’ve just checked and no Land Rover model has a PCD of 5x100 which is the PCD of the Polo. Therefore they won’t fit, irrespective of what the other spec details (offset, width and centre bore) are, as the bolt holes in the wheel won’t line up with the bolt holes in wheel hub on your car.

Correct size for 2016 Polo GTI winter wheels is 195/50 R16. The wheels need to be at least 16" to clear the front brake discs.
Unfortunately this is an uncommon size, so it might not be easy to find a decent used set.
