Car temperature lowering

My car has started to have its engine temp lower between 1/4 and half. It usually sits at 90* ( halfway ) but as of yesterday it’s stared lowering and then when I do about 50nph it above it holds at its normal temp. The engine is a 1.4 petrol. The battery was dead and after that it’s started this. Any ideas ?
