'Error' flashing in display between Speedo & Rev counter

Hi all
My daughter just got a VW Polo 1.2 2011 and it has a few issues which I'm working through.
Car drives nice but the word 'Error' is flashing on the display between Speedo & Rev counter on start-up, it goes after a few seconds and the mileage is displayed. No other warning lights active but we have 2 known faults, radio doesn't work and the passenger side window doesn't go up or down from passenger side switch, fine from drivers side.
Any thoughts? Wondering if that is a generic error to say get it checked on a diag machine, although garage with a generic tester read no faults.
