Fuel gauge stuck on full

Hello all,
Any ideas? Filled up at weekend and done 150 miles since and gauge still reads full. When I filled up the warning light hadn't come on yet and range said 90 miles. I filled it till first click and it read 48ltr. I was surprised at this as it's only a 45 ltr tank??? 1.2 TSI Polo 2016 Petrol.

It sounds like you have filled it up higher than normal, so it will take quite a few miles for the fuel gauge to drop below FULL.
Doing this is not the best plan, I might do that when I am about to, ie leave immediately, on a long drive, what can happen, it has been said, is that if you leave a fully filled car out in hot weather, the fuel volume will increase due to the temperature change and that can cause the EVAP canister to end up filled with liquid petrol which it is not meant to be, which in turn can cause a failure to get logged that requires you to replace that costly EVAP canister - this advice came from a tech and not from anyone's personal experience.
When refuelling, I tend to fill until the first "click stop", remove the nozzle and use it to trip the vent plug, then continue filling until the next complete litre has been dumped into the tank.

Thanks for reply RUM4MO.
Glad to say it's moved slightly now. It shows as 7/8 full after 220 miles with a range of 450 miles left.
Can't believe that will be correct though as I would normally get around 420from a full tank before I needed to fill up when the warning light comes on. TBH I don't normally wait for the warning light and fill up when just below a qtr which normally tales app 41 ltrs.
Question is, is it accurate and it was mega overfilled with 48ltr + approx 4ltr already in (52 ltr) Is that even possible??? Or am I going to run out of fuel when I might still be showing a range of 150 miles or so.
I think I will keep going to about 400 miles and see what the gauge looks like then and possibly refuel at that point and make sure I don't overfill. Not sure how I managed to overfill anyway as I always finish on the first click. It's not like the old cash days when you rounded up to the nearest £5 as it's mainly card payment so not a problem.
Cheers

If it was not the filling station that you usually get fuel at or if it was and not the pump that you usually use, it is possible that that pump's trip sensor etc is set slightly different from others. I have found in the past at certain filling stations, that you can end up having a problem filling the tank on certain cars due to either a higher delivery rate or the pump trip sensors being set not quite right for trouble free fuelling for any cars. I've also, with any car, been in a position that I have not been able to take on enough fuel due to pump delivery anomalies but that does not happen very often.
I have yet to be able to convince myself that certain pumps have been "short serving" me and so finding that I've seem to have taken on far too much fuel - the few times that I have taken on too many litres, I've always been able to travel more miles which in my book means there was more fuel than normal loaded into the tank.
Maybe a boring comment, but I have been recording fuel usage on all my cars for maybe the past 40 years, that being made easier since the advent of cars having fuel computers, so no extra sums to do to check MPG, my wife's job is to record this in each car's fuel/oil/service/?? running log, and if I short fill or long fill a car, I will always get a comment! She does not share my need to log fuel usage but it gives her something to do while I'm refuelling our cars!!

FWIW, I can drive about 400km with the fuel gauge on full and empty it in the next 500km.

Thanks guys for replies.
I will risk it and see what happens. I'm on 243 miles with over 3/4 tank showing with 400 range.
