Door mirror remote operation

Hi all,

I have a 2015 GTI that has been in the garage for a while, and on returning the Golf courtesy car and getting the Polo back a 'dispute' has artisan between me and Mrs me. It relates to the door mirror remote and the directions the joystick is pushed to adjust the mirrors...

The Mrs is of the view that it works as if looking at the remote square-on meaning that up/down and left/right should do the same on the mirror.

On the contrary, I'm of the view that it is from the drivers point of view, in that fore/aft (left/right square on) is up/down, and left/right (down/up square on) for the side to side adjustment.

Of course I think I'm right as it would be more logical way of controlling the mirrors, but Mrs has a point in that the Golf seemed to have a different operation.

If anyone could confirm how their remote operates the mirrors, that would be great.

Thanks, Mal

I have a 2016 GTI. To tilt the mirrors up you push the mirror joystick forwards towards the dashboard / towards the rotary light switch. To angle the mirrors down you pull the mirror joystick back towards the rear of the car. To move them side to side (to widen or narrow the angle of view) you push the mirror joystick either towards the drivers door window or pull it inwards towards the driver’s seat. So your understanding of how it works is correct, and on this occasion your good lady is incorrect.

I previously had a mk6 Golf GTD and I can understand the confusion as the orientation of the position of the mirror control was different in the mk6 Golf compared to the 6C Polo, so when I first got the Polo, I didn’t always get the mirror adjustment right first time!

Thanks for the clarification. Good shout on the Golf remote being a slightly different layout/orientation. A bit more space on the door card to do so compared to the Polo.
