gti 1.8 engine noise

get a weird tapping/rattling type noise from the engine which is quite loud it’s only when idling any clues??

Does the noise increase if you bring up the revs?
Could be a number of issues such as a worn part, or could be that your oil pressure is low. Check your oil levels as if there isn't enough oil then the upper part of the valve train might not be getting enough oil.

cheers for the reply! it’s only when it’s idling it’s fine when i rev or drive normally

it’s not the exhaust it’s been swapped out it’s definitely engine noise
