ABS light on: fault 01276 ABS Hydraulic Pump

Hello,

I wonder if any of you have had this problem:

My 1999 6n 16V AFH has developed fault code 01276 after having the clutch changed.
According to the computer (a "Foxwell") it's the
01276
ABS Hydraulic pump (V64)
Sporadic - Signal outside tolerance.

Perhaps it's a loose connection or similar but I wouldn't know where to start looking...
Any tips?

Thanks guys!

I know it's a long shot, but I got the same fault after changing the clutch. The problem was really simple: A fuse in the little box on the + side of the battery was missing. My mechanic had to remove the battery, and somehow managed to loose one of the two fuses to the ABS pump..

This can be the same issue as in the DIY guides due to dry joints inside the ABS controller. Its an easy fix if you are handy with a soldering iron

Hi Everyone

Thanks for the tips - I have taken a look at your DIY guide Alex (viewtopic.php?t=58585) and it looks the business. I'm handy with a soldering iron so I'll keep you informed how I get on.
And before I start, I'll have a quick look at the battery connections, just in case...

Hopefully this will save an expensive repair.

Cheers

Morning all.

So I've had the control unit off, it's got part number 1J0 907 379G which is not quite what it should be I think. Hard to know.

Reason it's causing problems now is that there are sleeves through the plastic casing where the studs go to hold the ECU onto the ABS manifold.

These sleeves have an integral capping washer/disk which means that removing the lid from the unit is even harder than it is already. This doesn't appear in the handy guide!
Photo showing the sleeves.
Photo showing the sleeves.
Not sure if the photo is going to work, we shall see.

Anyhow, solution currently is to consider drilling out the washers on the sleeves, or to locate a second hand unit that would fit.

Can anyone confirm the original ABS ECU part number that would have been fitted to the car in 1999? I think it's been replaced once already (judging by previous MOT failure history)

Thanks
