UK-POLOS.NET - THE VW Polo Forum

I've read through the forums and our 2015 TSI SE Polo has the older basic infotainment system with mute button bottom left and no option for apple car play on the menu.(part number 3Q0035820A) . As a result I understand that it cannot be upgraded unless I go through the rigmarole of buying later model head and control units and USB port and then pay to have component protection removed and then £200 for apple car play on top.
I've found the following companies that retrofit even with the older infotainment by inserting some sort of plug and play bypass decoder/mirroring device. Price seems to be around £400-£500.( Links below) Does anyone have any experience of this?

just taken a punt on a Chinese manufactured USB dongle for £40 via eBay that appears to offer access to CarPlay, due to arrive next month will update you if it actually works!

I can't see that working as there is no way of setting the unit to display the output from it.

The best bet is to go the upgrade route as that can be done for less than 500 for a complete oem look.

All sorted, Hamid and the team at Satnav in Surbiton sorted everything for a very reasonable £895, using all OED kit!
