2017 Polo GTI - spare wheel/accessories

Hello gang!
I'm new here
Can anybody help me with a list or picture of the spares should be in the boot of a 6C 2017 GTI as standard?
I believe mine is supposed to have a space saver and a jack!
These items recently went missing when some clown broke the rear Window.
My local dealer aren't being especially helpful and won't give out part numbers.
They want 226 big ones for the spare saver, which is what I'd expect, but it is a lot of brass for something I can probably get used elsewhere.
Many thanks!
RR

Welcome to the forum rattus.
You should have the following spare wheel kit under your boot floor in your GTI;
- space saver spare wheel
- jack
- locking wheel bolt adapter
- tool to remove the black plastic wheel bolt covers
- box spanner
- threaded towing eye bar
- screwdriver
- two moulded polystyrene storage trays for the above tools - one that sits to the left of the spare wheel well and another that fits in the bottom of the spare wheel well around the base of the battery.

Hi SRGTD,
Thanks for the reply.
Looks like I have a fair amount missing from the boot!
The retainer for the spare looks quite different in mine to the example provided.
Do you know if the picture you linked is from a GTI or a lower specced 6C polo? At a guess the wheel size is the only difference.

Looks like you only have the box spanner and the locking wheel nut adapter.
The picture was from a 6r Polo GTI, so the pre-facelift model with the 1.4 twincharger engine, but the spare wheel and tools should be the same as the 6c GTI. It’s quite possible that VW changed the design of the plastic spare wheel retainer at some point - sorry, can’t check mine just now as I’m not at home and my car is!
The space saver spare in my 6c GTI is an 18” space saver with a 125/60 R18 tyre.

Daft question, is your 6C on 17" or 18" wheels?
Our factory fitted Parabolica alloys are wearing 215/40/R17 boots.
Makes me curious about the size of the space saver...

My 6c gti has 215/40/17 wheel/tyre combo and an 18" space saver. Which should still fit over my brembos.

The 18” space saver fitted with a 125/60 tyre is correct for the GTI with 17” wheels and 215/40 tyres.
My GTI also has 17” wheels and 215/40 R17 tyres. The diameter of an 18” space saver with 125/60 tyre is pretty much the same as the diameter of a 17” alloy with 215/40 tyres fitted. To get the overall diameter of the tyre + wheel you need to add the diameter of the wheel, plus the tyre sidewall height at the top of the wheel and tyre sidewall height at the bottom of the wheel. The sidewall height of the tyre is calculated by multiplying the tyre width by the sidewall aspect ratio, so for the space saver;
Tyre sidewall height = 125mm width x 60% = 75mm
Wheel diameter = 18”, converted to mm’s = 457.2mm.
Overall diameter of tyre + space saver = 75mm + 75mm + 457.2mm = 607.2mm
For the 17” road wheels;
Tyre sidewall height 215mm x 40% = 86mm
Wheel diameter; 17”, converted to mm’s = 431.8mm.
Overall diameter of tyre plus wheel; 86mm + 86mm + 431.8mm = 603.8mm
So only a difference of 3.4mm in diameter of a 17” wheel with a 215/40 tyre and an 18” space saver with a 125/60 tyre. 3.4 mm difference is negligible, especially when the space saver will only be used at speeds of up to 50mph and over a relatively short distance in an emergency to get you home and to a tyre depot to repair or replace your damaged 215/40 road tyre.

Thanks guys, this is amazingly helpful.
Is it me or is an 18" 125/60 space saver an odd side? I can find lots of 125/70 on eBay, but yet to locate the exact size needed.
Also what do you think to this:

Looks about right for the parts missing...
I think the jack actually goes underneath the spare wheel. A first aid kit goes where the jack is in this picture.

I don’t know if an 18” space saver with a 125/60 tyre is an odd size or not. It’s probably 18” to fit over the larger GTI’s brakes, and the tyre and 125/60 so it’s pretty much the same rolling radius as the 215/40 tyres on the 17” road wheels.
I don’t think that the equivalent performance models of the Seat Ibiza or Audi A1 had a spare as part of standard equipment (they had a can of sealant), although I think they might have been offered as an extra cost option, so you might be able to find an 18” space saver from an Ibiza or A1 with a 125/60 tyre. An 18” space saver from a later model Golf, A3, Leon or Octavia won’t fit as they have a different bolt pattern (5x112) to the Polo (5x100).
You could also try breakers yards near to you to see if they’ve salvaged any from Polo GTI’s that have had frontal damage (so the spare in the back wouldn’t have been damaged).
The tool kit looks to have all the items that are missing from your car. And yes, the jack is under the spare wheel in my car.

Good to hear you’ve got it sorted.
