Playing Media on Composition Media

Just solved a problem with my 2018 GTI that's been bugging me for months. Over many many years, whenever I bought a new CD (remember those) I would rip the music to my NAS so that I could play from any devices in the house. Over time the method I used to rip changed from MP3 to WMA (lossless) to retain quality.
To cut a long story short I copied a number of these albums to a USB stick and found that some music tracks would not play (invalid media error). This only applied to WMA format tracks but was not consistent across an entire album, drove me crazy.
Reading the manual (always a last resort) it turns out that WMA files must have a bit rate less than 768 kbit/s. That was the issue. When the tracks were ripped using the WMA variable bit format, some of the tracks on the same album exceeded this limit and hence would not play.
