AC doesnt engage when fans on 1

hi guys, its been a while! (I've kinda just learned to accept my cars a nugget lol)

New problem that bothers me though!
My AC doesn't engage when the fans are set to '1' but will engage on anything higher!

If i set the fans back to '1' the AC will turn itself off!

The fans blow on all settings

Any ideas as to where i should start to look?

Sorry for asking, but if your fan did not run on speed "1" then maybe the speed controller resistor network is faulty and that would explain this.

Are you 100% sure that the fan is running on speed "1"?

It definitely feels like there is air coming out when the fans are set to speed 1 (i will triple check tomorrow)

Hi - checked today, fan doesnt blow on speed 1, but does on all others.

I don't think that is relevant in this case, the OP has confirmed that the fan does not run when speed 1 is selected, which I'd guess is a resistor network failure.

so, this would be the blowy-ma-tron thingie resistor

Part Number(s) 6Q0959263 OR 6Q0959263A

Noticed that there is a few items on ebay that say that their part covers several part numbers

I've been looking at getting this one: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Heater-Blowe ... 1438.l2649

Would that work?

Thanks for your help so far btw :)

It should work, as the second part number looks to be an updated (for any/many reasons) of the first VW Group part number, how long it will last I don't honestly know as I've never needed to replace one of them ever, never mind with a cheaper pattern part.
One thing, maybe hold onto the one you remove as you know it still woks in all the remaining fan speeds.
