Cruise control on a 1.4 8V

Hi guys,
I have a 1.4 8v match 6N2, I love it, but as I do many motorway miles, a sorely missed feature is cruise control. I've heard that you can fit it to the 1.4 16v models by fitting the correct stalks and coding the ECU, can anyone advise me as to whether you can do this with the 8v?
If it had cruise control, I don't think i'd ever replace it
, but the current course is for a MK1 Octavia Laurin & Klement 1.9 TDi
