Timing chain replacement on 1.2 engine

Morning,

I’m new here but looking to buy a 2010/11 1.2. The budget I have means I’m looking at cars with 70-100k. What’s the deal with cam belt and timing chain replacement? Should I be budgeting to have the chain changed as the cars are 9-10 years old, regardless of mileage?

Apart from obvious condition checks is there anything else to watch out for? Ideal spec is 70hp Moda or SE 5 door

Cheers

I bought a 1.2 3 cylinder. Wish I hadn’t. Go for another engine. Mine eats oil. Great cars, but be picky. Service history is a must.
I am now trying various things to solve it eating oil.

With timing chain, apparently it last the life of the car. I don’t believe that!
My car has done 100k. I will change it soon if I keep the car......

I'm also thinking of buying a 1.2 soon. How often do you have to fill up with oil?
