6r tmps vcds help needed

Hi all.

Just trying to help a friend out so any info is greatly appreciated.

He's brought a 6r that has been involed in an accident. He runs a garage and will be using this as his daily to run to and back from work In. Everything else has been repaired (front end damage)

His issue is the tpms system. It always says pressure loss and cannot be reset so he wants in turning off completely. I can get into 17 instruments on vcds and turn the tpms off. Cannot get into 03 abs to remove tpms. It had 65 tpms turned on within the gateway installation list but cannot access module so I've removed it from the gateway list.

If you hover over the login for abs it shows code 40168 (if I remember correctly) which gets accepted. When you go to 07 coding and long coding helper, it just shows the bytes but no info as to what each one does.

Can anyone help? Is there any other modules which need tpms coding removed apart from 03 abs and 17 instruments?

Joe

Do you have a diagnostic scan please? Isn't tpms obligatory in Europe nowadays?

Yes it probably is but he's not fussed about it and just wants the light off for good. I'll post the scan when I get to plug my mates laptop back in. Battery is dead currently

One thing I noticed is there is no fuse 9. Isn't that tied into the tpms? Or is that only for the tpms with actual pressure sensors on each wheel?

Fuse 9 is connected to your TPMS, ESP, ABS unit and steering angle sensor and some other optional gear. I'd probably have a look to see if both sides of the fuse contact are present in the fuse box and insert 7.5A,5A fuse. Furthermore, the scan will tell what hardware is present (ESP8.2i, ESP9.0i, ABS8.2, ABS9.0) and what errors they are reporting. If TPMS is indeed mandatory, I'd bring the car to another garage and get it fixed properly...

It should its annual MOT if that car is of an age that demands that it has TMPS - it could be that it is an early model so before the "must have it" date I'm guessing.
