Fake front lamps

Haven’t seen this previously mentioned.
I wrongly thought the car was fitted with 2 pairs of headlamps, Dip and Main.
Wrong. Only 1 pair. But, as they are 21st century LED they work quite well.
And what’s with the with fake “crystal” look corner lamps? That aren’t.

The fake ‘crystal’ look corner lamps are the LED daytime running lamps on Polos that don’t have LED headlamps - only the GTI+ has LED headlamps as standard; they’re an extra cost option on all other models other than the Polo S where they’re not available.
Fitting the same lamp units in the front bumper across the entire Polo model range no doubt mean production and supply chain efficiencies and cost savings to VW.

When I was adding things to my SEL before purchasing it, I liked the look of the indicators in the headlights, they look more upmarket, I asked about this and was told they came with the LED headlights, the cost of them was £1,000 extra

. Seeing that the Mrs and I are retired, once it starts getting dark, we don't bother going out, except on the odd occasion. Why spend that money, I upgraded the bulbs to 130% type and I find them adequate.
But the LED indicators in the headlights do look good, but not £1,000 good!

So are we saying that when you go for the LED headlight option you lose these DRLs ?

The DRL's are built into the LED headlight unit. The look better imo.
The lower DRL's are blanks.

Yes, you can see it in this YouTube video - the Energetic Orange Polo R-Line with optional LED headlamps;
