Siobhan's Flash Red Polo GTI

Hi everyone 
At the weekend I picked up my first ever "real" VW - a 65 plate Polo GTI.
I've had a few cars the past few years: my first car was a 1.1 W reg Renault Clio
and then had two Seat Ibizas after that. My real interest in cars started when I got my first mk7 Fiesta ST, I got the most common colour, Spirit Blue. I then traded cars with my friend and had a mk7 ST200, which I absolutely loved but gave back after about 15 months and got my last car, a 2018 Octavia VRS (Petrol obv 
) in Rallye Green.
I got so used to financing cars that it had just become the norm for me, but my boyfriend and I are saving for a house, with a view of buying this year hence I decided to give up the Octy and buy a Polo outright. I was really concerned that I was going to be downgrading after getting used to a well spec'd, brand new car but after driving the GTI for a few days I do not feel like I have downgraded at all. My car has every option except the sunroof and the upgraded seats I believe (I love the tartan anyway
) so in fact it's actually probably better spec'd than my VRS. My next concern was that it was going to feel slow in comparison, but it doesn't! I'm surprised by how well it picks up and I do feel like the sports mode makes a difference (not actually looked into the specifics of this yet but VRS mode on my Octy was just a bit louder, stiffer steering and throttle response).
All in all I'm delighted with the car! Not going to be doing anything too major I don't think considering I switched cars to try and save money haha, but I will be doing a few small cosmetic bits and will update the thread as I go along.
I've always been on car forums and made some of my best friends (and met my boyfriend!) through the ST forums so would be nice to see what everyone else is doing with their cars and maybe even attend any local meets that may be happening!
