Any one say this is right wrong , or averaged, as i got these results from my polo - i know its not the best of figures but its the only ones i got recently. 40miles for 5.61litres ?

I havent tested it yet, but what i do find is that when i just put £10 in each time it doesnt last long, but when we fill it up it lasts ages, I know that sound silly cos theres more petrol in it but its kinda hard to exlain (well for me anyway).

Well, we've got this thing in our family, how we ONLY fill our cars to the top once the light comes on...

I dnt understand why people only put in, say, like a 5er or a 10er... Why not just fill it up? :?

i cant remember the mpg i get, i've posted it before though!

MPG really depends on how u drive and where u drive. if u drive round town then MPG is low, motorways are much better :D

but how u drive will matter more. revving gears etc....

Well thats 32 mpg but it's not an accurate way of checking mpg IMHO

Best way is brim fill (fill it till it clicks twice) - drive however much you want - brim fill again on same pump at the same garage (same fill till it click twice)

Miles / litres x 4.545 is about as accurate as you'll get

Last tank on the Polo 1.4 8V CL was 50.7 mpg - mainly dual cabbageway work with about 10% town work thrown in cos I couldn't be bothered to fill it up for a few days...... IHTH

sh!t i don't know where i got 40 from!

5 pounds at 81.9p per litre isn't 5.61 litres? It's over 6 - which is about 29mpg ?

6.105 to be precise

bugger missed that......... 29.77 - that's awfull but then it's not a very accurate way of measuring it - see previous posting

Taking 10 kms as 6 miles (close enough) thats about 27.5 miles per UK gal - mpg (don't get me started on the US gallon - I though everything in the USA was supposed to be bigger!!!!!)

If you do short journeys, you'll get crap to the gallon. In a week I go to work and back 5 times, which is about 4 miles, then at weekends I usually do two sets of 45 Miles at about 80MPH. This gives me an average of about 45MPG , if I go on a long trip on the motorway I get over 50, if I don't go on any long journeys and its cold like winter, its too depressing to calculate!

And for the previous statement, yes I like to fill the bugger right up. You see, the best way to get a very accurate calculation of consumption is to go fill it to the brim, drive it around for as long as you like, and then brim it again. That way, if you remembered to reset your trip meter, it will say something like 361.4 miles and your ticket will say 35.46 Litres. I mean how accurate do you want it? Which is incindentally my last reading which is about 46.5 MPG.

Also when the sh1t breaks loose and something happens in your area sometimes you'll be glad of the reserve of fuel.
