The 225/40s do have a bigger circumference as the height value of a tyre (40) is a % of the tyre width

40% of 225 is more than 40% of 215
The change is tiny, and of no concern. I wrote a lengthy post on this a while back (maybe in this very thread). The overall wheel circumference increases 8mm, about 1.4% if I remember rightly. The circumference of any given tyre is goinv to change by 10-13mm from new to legal minimum tread depth (1.6mm in the UK).
oh yeah I completely agree with you, miniscule change but was just pointing out how the tyre sizing numbers work
It makes speedo reading so much closer to GPS reading - as stock, the speedo under read by about 4%, more like 2.5% with the tyre change.

I'm super tempted to change out my tyres I the first week, out of interest, what do people do with the factory tyres? I'd like to sell them to offset the cost but no idea where you would do it and get money back quickly

For my 2018 GTI+, I ran them for 4k miles and swapped them out when the back end slid out when exiting a bone dry large roundabout (almost straight line) at moderate speed. Fronts were worn by about 1mm. Sold them collection only and got £140 for the set, my PS4s cost about £320.

When the wife's 2019 GTI+ came, they delivered it to work on the back of a trailer. It's first journey was the 3 mile drive from work to Costco to swap the tyres out. I was able to sell the tyres "as new" - they still had their green ink markings on the tread surface as they'd only done 3 miles with me + 9 miles delivery charges.

The 215/40/R18 tyres are very expensive at retail (about £160 each) and are OEM fit for some B class Mercs. They sold instantly for £210 the set - the buyer drove up from Norfolk to Newcastle to get them because I saved him a fortune vs retail
. £320 for the PS4s and I'm £110 down overall. A small price yo pay for vastly superior tyres. It's not that PS4s are far better than everything else, its that Bridgestones are so poor next to every other top tier tyre.

This happened to me when switching my policy to the GTI+. I told them it came with 18s wheels (couldn't recall if I need to declare or not) and when my policy arrived, the car was listed with a modification for larger wheels

I argued that they came from the factory and I got the mod removed. Cost me about £15 to change the paperwork

Partly my fault but also shows the person on the end of phone didn't realise new car from factory with that option doesn't count as a mod (their small print even notes that)

Did you sell them on eBay?
I'm eyeing up either the PS4 or the asymmetric 5 as they seem to be very similar and a bit cheaper

Yep, ebay, collection only. Do it when you've got an offer for £1 final selling fee.

PS4 are worth the extra over Godyear Eagle Asy5. Used to really rate Asy3, but Asy5 seem a bit of a backward step in wet grip.

yeah I had heard that, but then this video says the Goodyear gets very close, and it's a touch cheaper

A lot of the reviews I have seen, many mention the steering wheel feedback is the best from the PS4 and 4S.
In this video, tyre has grip but the tyre construction is different and provides different feedback.

I bought the PS4's on monkeyhanger's recommendation. Would recommend anyone else do the same, they have improved the car ten fold. And having the protective lip is a benefit!
Thank you so much!!:)
I wanted to ask do the 225/40/ R18 tyres rub against the front suspension strut as that's my fear at the moment as the gap between front tyres and strut already on 215/45/ R17 is really close. (Doing a rim change from bonneville to brescia's on my polo beats)

So i was wondering should i go for 215/40/R18 or should i go for 225/40/R18

Others have done it on the GTI / GTI+ without any rubbing issues, so don’t see why you should experience rubbing issues on the Beats model. However, only you can decide whether to go for factory spec 215/40 R18 which are considerably more expensive, or 225/40 R18’s.

Thanks in advance

I noticed my rear drivers side wheel arch liner was sticking out a fair bit, so I zipped tied it to the fuel lines & not to thigh of course, just enough to snug it down. Hope this helps you or anyone else with this issue.

There's another tyre thread on here which shows which screws to adjust to fix the bulging wheel liner...

Those who have Michelin PS4 225/40r18 fitted .

What tyre pressures do you run for daily?
Front and rear...

Thanks
