Indicator stalk upgrade for trip computer

Hi,
This morning I upgraded my indicator stalk to the Mid-line model (I think) basically the one with TRIP and OK buttons (NO cruise control) so I can access my Trip computer as I couldn't before. Everything seems to be working fine other than being able to access all the trip computer menus etc that I installed the stalks for, I was wondering if I need to Use any code or anything that I maybe missed, or any wires that I need to solder in as I'm getting conflicting opinions saying that it should just be plug and play/ It needs work.
thanks

Well, at this point in my time my glass bowl is a bit vague.
Can you please describe what you did so far, in detail?
Wire what to where?
What coding did you alter?
Polo 6R or 6C
Without this information it's a bit hard to tell where you went wrong. Thanks.

Apologies this is a bit vague, Ill try to shed some light on it haha, I own a 2010 Polo 6R with the standard 1.2 60 horsepower engine, it had no access to trip computer or anything before. I fitted the 6R0953521A indicator wiper stalk, which was purchased on eBay. I have seen on some forums that coding/ wiring is necessary but up until this point I have not done any of that, and presumably that is why I cannot access the trip computer still, all I have done is installed the new stalks.
thanks for your help and sorry about the vagueness of my initial post

Yes you have to do some wiring, three wires from the stalk to the instrument cluster. And you need to do some coding in the instrument module as well.

Awesome thank you, do you have a guide/link that I can follow for the wires and a link to the code? I'm very new to it all so other than somewhere on the forum I'd be unsure where to look.
Thanks again

In 17 Instruments, code byte 1 bit 3 to 1 (Multi function display installed).
Let's have a look at the scheme:
For the wiring, you need to add three wires, circled and commented 'snippy snippy'. Ignore the comment. So we can see:
T41/18 to T32/23
T41 is the 41-pin steering column combination switch connector, the big grey one you removed when changing the stalks.
T32 is the 32-pin blue connector that goes into the instrument cluster. So pin 18 of the big grey one goes to pin 23 of the blue one.
Apply the same logic to these two as well and you successfully wired your MFA+
T41/23 T32/22
T41/24 to T32/21
All three wires have a cross-section of 0.35mm2 (or larger) and the contacts are all MQS (micro quadlock system).

so you need to run wires from the stalk to the BCM, T73a/15 /16 and /17
for cruise it's this scheme:
remember, for the cruise control you need an activation document and online ODIS to activate/code CCS
