Racechip tuning box - Yay or nay? BlueGT 6c 2014

Considering purchasing a Racechip S Tuning Box for my Polo BlueGT 6c 2014 which gives me ups the power and torque figures from stock -150bhp to 180bhp and 250nm to 300nm torque. The box in question costs £120, so quite a bit cheaper than getting a remap.
Has anyone else bought this tuning box for their BlueGT? If so, any issues with the clutch slipping or dreaded turbo failures?

Hi There,
I have a 1.2 TSI 2015 6C, i did buy the GTS from racechip in November 2019, I had it installed with the BT app, i did not feel any difference, i tried all the modes and fine tuning, i got Racechip to reset the Box and the programing, they even tried squeezing extra from the map that was loading and unfourtunitly no difference, i had a few people drive the car with different settings being stock, sport and race, and i didnt tell them which setting was one but they all said they felt more power when the car was stock, i installed a mechanical boost gauge and monitered it as well as monitered the electronic verson on Torque pro app, and at no suprice the car was making a little less boost in Race mode and the same boost in eco mode, so it didnt work for me i sent pics of the instalation etc, they said it looks fine, sent the GTS product back in Feb 2020 as they said they will give me a refund, we are now in May, almost 4 months and no refund yet, apparntly they cant Find the parcel box as it got lost in the warehouse, i sent the proof of shipping and they said to me its DHLs fault, and DHL must sort it out, so i just lost over 400 Eur, and ive been asking Racechip every 2 weeks since then when i can get a refund, they said they not sure and keep asking me to wiat that was 3 months ago and now they hardly reply to my emails, not happy.
Just thought you should know incase it doesnt work for you and you want to return it.
Also what Gearbox do you have? The DSG DQ200 is torque limited to 250nm, and the MQ250 is limited to 200nm if im not mistaken, depending if you have a torque limit of 250nm on your gearbox you might not feel the extra toque, and it will make more strain on the clutch and gearbox as well, However, Racechip products are designed within the manufactures safty measures, which is one reason i guess it wouldnt let me get extra power, they are the better chiptuning boxes around give them a try i guess,
With regards to slipping, its not enough of a power boost in my opinion to cause that much wear, and i doubt there will be clutch slip from such a small power boost, its not even stage 1 power so i wouldnt worry about it, however if you going to be pushing it all the time constantly then of course you will get wear and tear much quicker.
But you cant beat a proper remap, Revo maps are not to bad for VAG cars, they get decent power, After my bad experance with Racechip im looking at getting a APR stage 1, a little more power than revo but ive heard good things about APR.
Sorry for the long message
I hope it helped tyhough, let me know what you go with.

I have the NJU 6 speed manual gearbox, would the torque limits be the same as the figure you mentioned? Very surprised at how the Racechip box didn't do anything at all for your Polo..I figure it will probably be the same for my 1.4tsi engine, perhaps it's a failsafe measure set in place by Volkswagen on the ECU as it thinks the box will be putting too much pressure into the turbo? I think I shall go for a remap if other people have had a negative experience with the tuning box company like yourself.

The NJU gearbox in the Blue GT is a variant of the heavy duty MQ350, which has a torque rating, as the designation indicates, of 350Nm. You would be going some to exceed that with just a remap.

I’ve used Racechip on other cars but not my BGT.
The boxes always did exactly what was claimed and produced substantial gains both on the road and on the dyno.
The company were very helpful and easy to deal with.
Unless there has been a radical change within the company structure I would doubt that the problem is with the box unless, of course the politics around VWs cheat software have meant a radical rethink.

VW figures arent always true, i have read a lot of forums and posts where guys are taking even the 1.0 TSI to a dyno and they always make more power than what the papers say, I have driven a Jetta 1.4 TSI and i have the 1.2 TSI with 90HP, yet i feel more torque in the 90 HP polo and i have had people say that as well, so it could be that my ECU wasnt allowing more power, the unit from Racechip wasnt faulty either, it was just my luck i guess, i have researched for you regarding others with the polo GT aand Racechip and all say that they notice a big difference, so go for the Racechip, but id rather get the RS model with App control so you can switch between the Eco stock and sport settings instead of going into the engine bay, but if you willing you wont regret getting a map because a map also adjusts the throttle response and power ban for a longer rpm range and a chip is just tricking the engines mass airflow and fuel sensors and doesnt increase the power band like a map, however a chip is safer than a map.
With revo you can also get a SPS, which allows you to switch between stock, 95 ron and 98 ron maps.
With a proper remap you looking at up to 200HP and up to 330nm.
All up to you, let us know what you get, Also on a Side note, the RS from Racechip can be reused in a future car.
