2014 Polo 6C BlueGT with the 1.4tsi 150ps engine, I never use the Start-Stop system yet for some reason, this error has popped up today. Lack of use perhaps? Hopefully, it'll go away. Car is still under warranty from the dealer anyway so can always send it back.

Could be the battery performance. If the battery isn’t tip top it can cause the stop start not to function... in most cars.

Possibly the battery yes. My car still has the original one in, despite only having 27k on the clock, perhaps it's time for a replacement to save a trip to the dealer and for peace of mind?

I was getting the same error (consumption too high)

2015 car with 23k.

Changed the battery and "coded" it to the car and not had start stop since.

Got it from batterymegastore.co.uk

The current battery that's installed is the:
Exide 1S0 915 105A
12v 59ah 320a DIN
640a

Found a Halfords AGM027 Start Stop Car Battery
60ah
640cca

I take it this shouldn't need coding into the car as the numbers are pretty much the same apart from 1ah difference?

It's more the battery construction that is the important part.

The OEM one is probably an EFB construction but your new one is AGM

It will still require coding. You need to inform the battery management that a new battery has been installed.

As it sounds like you are not in a rush, why not check Tayna batteries, usually unbeatable prices, you might even get an Exide efb so same as what is in the car, are you going to keep the car long enough to warrant changing to a AGM from an EFB?

We purchased an AGM replacement from Halfords and they fitted it and coded it for a nominal sum. It was something like £140 all in? Five year guarantee.

We had issues with multiple cylinders misfires and the new battery fixed it. The car had a poor performing battery in it when we bought it.. and it wasn’t a start/stop one either. New battery sorted everything out.
