Not run in yet ? How many miles are you planning to put on the odo before testing it's performance ?

I drove the car for 2 days and 700 miles. After that run-in time I started putting some rev's on the engine. Since then I did everything with the engine.

The engine doesn't have to be treated like it's a virgin. It's more important that you drive calm when the engine is cold. Don't rev the engine until you've driven 8-10 miles.
You know what happens when your car is finished in the factory ? The car gets plugged in a computer. Engine is started (cold) and revved to the red line. If the engine doesn't explode it's believed to be ok and the car may leave the factory. It sometimes does leave some marks on the internal parts, but that's marginally.

is not something like the first 3000 miles?? I'm sure in the hand book i read that as the distance of "run in" for the engine.

Not got the manual close at hand but IIRC the manual gives all the figures in km not miles, I think the kilometerage  they gave was 1500km

any1 tried a 0-30mph then? how does that compare to the "lacking torque" of the 1.4 16v (75hp petrol) model?

manufacturer figures only give 0-62mph :?

i wouldnt say race. but me and a tdi pulled away from the lights together and it wasnt untill bout 3rd gear his torque got him away from me. plus with his turbo lag i was away from him.

tried it with a lupo gti and if u get in2 second very quick u can probly hold on to 40mph bout it really!
