I have a polo 2014 6C.
Heard a rattling noise when idle, goes away when i rev. Clutch vibrates when engaged.
Ignored it for about 6 months but it's getting worse and the clutch is slipping.

Been told the dual mass flywheel needs changing.
I've been quoted £1250 by 2 people, both said they have to go dealership only. Does anyone know why no one stocks the part and it's dealership only?
Or is this incorrect information, is this a known problem with this car?

Absolute ripoff. The kit costs 300-350 gpb.!
And the solid mass will make your car rougher do drive, and can cause vibrations during rengeneration.

Gave them a call and they said they've gone directly to the dealer for parts and advice as nowhere else had them in stock.
Ive asked for a copy of the receipt. Bit annoying they ordered the parts without confirming I wanted to do the conversion first

I really wouldn't advise getting a single mass flywheel, I've got one on my GTI it's pretty harsh but i knew that from the start.

My guess is that is the flywheel clutch and pressure plate as you would change them all if you had a problem with the flywheel.

I have the same car and had the same problem. Ignored it until the car was vibrating at times as if the engine was loose. Other times OK. Rattling on idle but whent away when I pressed clutch in. I purchased the kit from vw only last month £670 after a bit of haggling. Was supposed to be £730ish but he chucked a bit of discount my way. It comes with solid flywheel, clutch, release bearing and a new offside driveshaft. The driveshaft is massive compared to other. Think its been uprated as converting to solid flywheel. Did the job myself which was a b***h. But I can tell you it is like a different car. So smooth no vibration. Pulls away lovely not like before when it was like a new driver. Will drive round roundabouts in 3rd now. Super smooth get it done. My dmf flywheel was completely shot.

Also in a polo 6R and just had this done without the driveshaft, hopefully not too much of an issue. Originally wanted another DMF fitted but the garage couldn’t source them, only a SMF clutch conversion direct from VW so seems the only real option.

Just wondering how these conversions are doing now after around a year later?

Seen a few people talking about the conversion damaging the synchromesh/gearbox due to higher stress without the DMF. Not sure if this is the case as I assumed the clutch with more springs would do a similar job but my knowledge isn’t extensive.

I've noticed people posting about this in another VW Group forum, VW Group seemed to drop DMF for at least 1.4TDI, someone got their small garage to source and fit a replacement DMF but, it seems, if the car has stop/start, fitting a DFM from an earlier car just messes things up - maybe strange but it seems true.
So, when VW Group workshops need to sort out a u/s original DMF in a 1.4TDI Polo/Fabia/Ibiza that has start/stop, as well as converting it to SMF, so other work and re-coding is required.

In the case of the 6R Polo without start/stop, I would have though that an suitable aftermarket supplier could be found for a replacement DMF kit of bits though unless the aftermarket have found that the design is a bit iffy, so they also dropped it.

The dual mass flywheel has indeed been replaced by a single mass flywheel. The conversion includes a right hand side driveshaft replacement from hollow to solid and an SW update.
