Dashcam doesn’t turn off

Good morning guys,

I hardwired a dashcam into my polo (GTI 6C? 16 plate) yesterday after I had a lovely bill the other day from a careless driver. It runs from the fusebox, up the pillar and along the headtrim. Below should be a picture of my fusebox, i’ve taken a look at the fuses sticky but i’m just wondering if i’ve possibly got it piggybacking off the wrong one as the dashcam does turn on with ignition but doesn’t turn off when ignition is shut off.

The camera is a Nextbase 322GW, i’ve searched other threads and many have said the camera will detect if a battery is running low and switch off but I don’t think I want to take the chance.

I have tried updating the camera and resetting numerous times so my conclusion is it must be something I have possibly missed.

No expert on nextbase cams but I recently installed a Garmin cam on my 6C.
I assume this cam requires constant and ignition power? For both in motion and parking recording. In which case where is your constant? I assume what you have pictured is ignition I connected my ignition to the fuse directly above yours.

This should help you. Red wire is ignition. Yellow wire is constant (I didn’t have correct size piggy back fuse holder) but the yellow wire is connected to empty fuse slot and has an in line fuse just behind where it disappears behind the box.

Hi Marco,

Thanks for the reply.
With the Nextbase, all I have in the hardwire kit is a the red cable for the fuse and a black cable for the earth which I have connected to a bit of metal under one of the trims.

Maybe i’ve put it into the wrong fuse possibly?

Okay so this is ignition only so it must have a battery in it to keep it running whilst car is off.
So connect it to the same one I used (red cable) or anything else switched e.g electric Windows.

Thanks again,

If i’m honest i’m not entirely sure what i’ve got it hooked up to at the moment. Hopefully this will remedy the problem!
