Hi everybody,
In the last three years I noticed my Bi-xenon lenses look dirtier than when they were new.
They look greasy and there's a circular mark in the center of the lens. I guess it is a sign left by the suction cup during the factory production of the headlights.


I believe this dirt negatively affects the overall brightness and the visibility, so I'd like to clean them.
I remember someone on here cleaned the lense with the help of a cloth rounded around an electric wire.
I saved the pictures, but I can't remember who uploaded them (maybe ciclo?).



I'd like to have some suggestion for this operation, as I don't want to damage anything.
Do I have to remove the HID ballast for accessing the lense from underneath with the wire?

Any other suggestion is really appreciated.

Yeah, I think ciclo did that!
I'd like to know how I can access the lens from underneath the headlight.
The picture I posted above is not clear, but it looks like the author removed the HID ballast and inserted the wire from underneath the headlight.
I'd like to have a confirmation, before removing the headlights and trying by myself.

Are you sure about that? I've never heard about burned out lenses.

The author of the pictures above also uploaded the before and after pictures of the lens.
It looks like his lens had the same dirt and mark as mine and in the end he clearly cleaned it.

I dont know about you but here often cars with oem xenon lihts ( mk5 polo mk6 golf) their projector reflector burns out ( its not anymore reflective) making it not shine as brite. Ur not going to scratch the lens its made from glass.

Today I took courage and I tried to clean the lenses.
The procedure wasn't easy nor quick. So, if you want to do it, take your time and be patient!
I used a 2,5mm electric wire with a microphiber soft cloth rounded around it. Then, I bended the cleaning tool in an half, to give it more rigidity and increase its cleaning surface.

This is the final result:


It not only look much better (I'd say better than new), but visibility and overall brightness of the projector has increased A LOT!
