Hi everyone, I just bought my first polo. 2015 6c 90hp TSI BMT 5 speed manual. Hooray!

In the video you will hear a tone similar to a parking sensor. It will start as a tone, switch to a Twitter, back to a tone and finally two or three pulses before I slow down.

I am driving in 4th gear, at 80km/h at 1900rpm. Bluetooth is off, HED unit is off, Climate control is off.

This happens in 5th gear at faster speeds too, not really at low speeds that I can hear but I mainly drive on 80+ roads so cruising at 40 doesn’t happen often.

The tone changes depending on how much I press the gas pedal. It disappears if I accelerate or take my foot off the pedal. It’s a very specific range it happens. Sometimes there’s a second frequency tone it will switch to and change depending on the pedal pressure.

A friend thinks it’s a bad ground somewhere. I just want to know if it’s worth going to a shop over. I did hear this sound in a blue motion polo I test drove but I didn’t buy that one, partly because of the noise and now I got the sound.

Bottom line, is it safe? Is the sensor in my pedal gone? Do I just use power tools without hearing protection till the sound fades?

Okay, maybe I'm just a guesser, I have not heard that sound on your clip, but, to me it sounds a lot like the noise you get on that age of car with the 1.2TSI 16V engine, if the EVAP flushing pipe is the original hard plastic version with ribs all along it.

That pipe needs to be replaced with the later normal smooth bore "rubber" pipe to stop these whistling (maybe) noises when the EVAP solenoid is being pulsed under certain engine load conditions.

I heard that noise as soon as we bought my wife's July 2015 build VW Polo 1.2TSI 110PS new in August 2015, though I did nothing about it until someone from a Scandi country reported this issue with their Skoda Fabia in early 2016 - so I demanded that VW UK sort this out ASAP, they initially claimed that there was not a problem - but I discovered the later cars were being fitted with the smooth bore pipe, VW UK sourced a new pipe from Germany and it took 3 weeks to arrive at my VW dealership, but it did stop that unnecessary noise getting into the cabin. My next challenge was to get them to replace the gearbox mounting with the stiffer version from the same age TDI Polo.

Edit:- my third warranty issue was the high pressure fuel pipe hitting an AC pipe - that I gave up on and bought a suitable "saddle clamp" that connected to 2 pipes and held them close but apart, VW had already added that and for that age of engine, that pipe should have been the updated version from factory - but it was not!

Another Edit:- I would describe the noise I am referring to as beep beep beep changing to beeeeeep sometmes.

Yea the noise is a bit hard to hear in the clip without headphones and if you haven’t heard it in real life. As far as I know it’s all stock parts so it could be that. I don’t think there’s a warranty left on the car from VW so it will just be something I drown out with the radio unless it is a safety issue or starts to really get to me.

Hi, I also have a 2015 VW Polo 6C with exactly the same problem!
It is very annoying and disturbing when driving.

Okay, lift the bonnet up and look down at the cam belt cover, ie on the LHS of the car looking back into the engine from the front bumper, you should find the EVAP solenoid valve close to that point, it has a power cable going to it and a rubber pipe from it heading back up to the rear of the engine compartment before it disappears down through an opening - the same opening as the low pressure fuel line comes up from and its way to the high pressure fuel pump.

There are 2 different versions of this pipe:- 1) and hard plastic ribbed pipe, which can cause this problem, or 2) a smooth bored rubber flexible pipe that does not cause this problem. If you car has the hard ribbed plastic pipe, then that is the problem, it needs to be replaced with the later version of pipe.
