GTI 6C sounds odd

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and I hope you can help.

I drive a Polo GTI 6C and I noticed that the car sounds a bit odd. Almost a bit diesel like? The sound isn't loud and can only be heard if the bonnet is open.

I was able to identify that it's coming from a specific part, but I'm not sure what that part is called. After tapping on it, the sound disappears, but it comes back after revving the engine.

I've uploaded a video which shows what the engine sounds like (the left hand side of the engine) and what the noise is (on the right hand side).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iEK2qR ... e=youtu.be

If anyone knows what that part is called or what could be the issue, that would be appreciated!
Thanks

Ok, so after more googling, I've found that the part making the noise is high pressure fuel pump. I've also found that the rattle could be coming from fuel lines rattling against the engine block.

I'll have a look in the next day or so to see if it's the case.

the high pressure pump has a solenoid on top of it that controls the fuel pressure (it uses a "returnless" setup)

the solenoid will make a noise like a metal tapping sound and is normal
