12v 1198cc gearbox from a 9n to a 6v 1198 cc engine in 9n3

Okay so this is a weird one. I have a 1.2 6v 3 pot 9n3 but the gearbox is pretty much dead and I need to get it fixed or replaced. The college where I’m doing my mechanic course has a Skoda fabia which would be the equivalent of the 9n because it’s a pre face lift car. That fabia also has a 1198 cc 3 pot but it has 12 valves. So I’m wondering if the only difference in the engine are just the cylinder heads and if so then does that mean I could put the gearbox from the fabia into my polo and vice versa. Any help/comment will be much appreciated.
