Are the 6C's dash and door illumination switch colours fixed?

I refer to the illumination colour of the various buttons and switches inside the cabin, on the dashboard and doors. The colour on mine throughout is red but I'd much prefer it to be blue. Anyone know if the colour is changeable? If so, how exactly?

Yes the are fixed, the color is determined by the LEDs

I’ve been looking at getting them changed to blue as well, I have had a look about and some places can change them to white or blue.

For quite a number of years now there have been LEDs around - not necessarily automotive ones - that are dual or even triple-coloured and which have three or four input leads rather than just two. Accordingly, a different colour is generated by activating the appropriate lead. Or in some cases, they are still 2-lead but the colour is changed by applying a different voltage. Even 20 or 30 years ago, cars had push-button selectable dash-and-door illumination and so, what with the choices that VAG group cars currently provide in some other cabin/dashboard features, I find it odd that VW, at least, have apparently opted for just one colour. Even on my old 1994 Golf that I ran for many a year I could, at the push of a button, instantly change all the dash and door illumination between red and blue.

Iichel, whose background knowledge on the Polo is well respected, is convinced that the colour is fixed in stone as red. He may well be correct about that. But if an alternative colour were feasible, I'd expect that to be done somehow via VCDS, and that duality then copied automatically into the Car options in the infotainment display.

I can't honestly see it being worthwhile taking most of the cabin apart to physically replace every single dash and door red LED by a blue LED. That, to me, would seem to be a complex, time-consuming and probably highly expensive exercise.

I know this for a fact since I changed my LEDs to white with a soldering iron haha

Well yes, that may be so, but your Polo is just one specific model and year. Minor changes and additions to one or more models tend to be introduced as the years then progress.

All in all, I think it's more likely that the colour is indeed fixed, but I thought it was worth raising the question nevertheless, just in case my initial assumption was wrong

yes to a certain extent your logic makes perfect sense, veteran.

in my case, the car is a combination of switches and knobs from both the polo 6R and polo 6C. all of them have only had red illumination only during their respective lifespans.
