Tune chips for TDI engines. Are they any good?

Has anyone used tune chips on their (1.2) TDI engines?

I was considering doing a mild remap of the 1.2 TDI engine to around 90hp, but there are no competent tuners in my area and I don't think I want 15 more HP enough to drive 800km+ for it.
Saw an add for chip tuning, plug and play stuff and wondered if they are legit.

What tune chips would you recommend?
Do they work as advertised?
Have you had any problems with them, is fuel consumption affected?

In my personal opinion, stay away from "magic" tuning boxes, they just try to fool the ecu.
I had bad results with my older car.

I tried a tune box on my 1.4 TDI, also 75hp. I could feel the difference, especially on takeovers on the highway. Overall, it was a good experience, but I ended up returning the chip, because I wasn't 100% happy with the throttle response.
My two cents: if you're buying the chip from a serious company and they have a good return policy, it's worth giving it a try.

IMO throttle response is what bugs me the most. I'll smash on the throttle and nothing happens for like 3-4 seconds.
If you don't mind me asking, what brand did you buy it from?

The one I bought was from Racechip.

I don't think any tunning box can help you a lot with that, though. Chips for TDI engines usually connect to the boost sensor and fuel pressure sensor. Basically, they fool the ECU into making more boost and injecting more fuel. For me, it felt like the engine was more 'torquey' at more or less all times, but any less laggy.

Is there such a thing as "Throttle remap"? Where a tuner adjust the throttle response?
I know there are pedal boxes, but those just fool the ecu into believing 10% of pedal input is 40% and cost about as much as an ECU remap(at which point just go for the remap imo)
