Stop Start Issue

Hi,

Can anyone offer advice on below?

When driving to work today as is quite normal in the cold weather the stop start didn't kick in. However after about a 30 min commute not stop start traffic at a set off lights the engine cut out.

However when the lights went green and I pressed the clutch down the engine didnt fire up. I had to turn the ignition off and start with the key again.

Is this likely a battery issue? Incidentally before today it hadn't been driven for 6 days but I always do a good 30 min drive to & from work.

1.2 TSI 2016 26k

Cheers

Hummm, did you notice that the car had handed out a warning that Stop/Start would not restart the engine, I'm sure that there is a situation where that can happen "now and again" with no single reason why, just a system malfunction.

Not quite the same issue as I have a different engine, and the stop start failed to work for about 3 weeks coming up with a warning/error on the multi media screen rather than the engine cutting out. The similarity lies with the fact that the car hadn't been used for a number of days and it was also during the previous Beast from the East cold snap about 3 years ago. I decided to leave it until my next service was due and get VW to take a look, however after about 3 weeks of normal driving it started working again and nothing was mentioned by the VW Service team 3- 4 months later when the car was being serviced. Its worked fine ever since with no issues

Thanks for the replies RUM4MO/Gee40

Maybe just a one off as not done it since. I turned off the SS for a day just in case battery was low and today just left it on. The SS didnt kick in once today though so maybe the battery was a bit low? Not had any warning lights so maybe like you say a random malfunction.

Hopefully rectify itself after this cold blast.
