Dash problem

Good morning all.
I have a T reg 1999 polo 1.0. For some unknown reason the dash has died, all I have is a main beam warning light. I’ve read many things about this but the more I read the more confused I become. Can anyone give me some help advice please, even if it’s just where to start looking.
I have removed the cluster but all looks very clean and all joints shiny.
Hope someone out there has a magic wand.
