Any way to disable the auto start/stop feature permanently?

I drive a 2018 (in china) but really 2016 version of the polo with a china only 1.5L. It comes with a feature where the car shuts its self off every time you stop and then starts again. I can shut the feature off by pressing the button on the dash but as soon as you drive again its on again. I would rather the default be off and I turn it on when I want to use the feature. Any way to do that? I cant find much information on it.

Hi,

Since no-one else has replied I thought l’d chip in:

There are two commonly-used methods to disable Stop/Start (SS). One is in software, the other in hardware.

The software method. This needs a software coding tool such as VCDS. You use this to change one of the thresholds that allow SS to operate. The one usually used is low battery voltage. If the voltage drops below this threshold SS is inhibited. The factory threshold setting is quite low, less than 10 volts. If you change it to a much higher value then SS will never cut in. The hardware method is to fit a an electronic “disable” module which effectively presses the SS button for you every time you start the car. The more sophisticated versions with a memory feature allow you to turn the disable feature on or off and remember the last setting. The modules are readily available and cost typically cost £30 -£60. You need to access the rear of the dashboard SS switch and splice 3 connections.

Hope this helps

Thanks for your time. I will research this further and see what I can do! I appreciate the response.

Or, if you really must, unplug the small plug from the current monitoring device on the -VE terminal of the battery.
