Hi, i’m looking at buying a mk7 1.4 petrol auto as a learner car for my partner. The car i’ve seen is low mileage and has a full ve service history. Can anyone tell me what the cambelt change interval is on this model please - is it 4 years?

Also, are there any other common issues I should look for when viewing the car.

Thanks

Yes 4 yrs or 5yrs depends who you speak to ?

Usual common VW issues
Central door locking / latch failure along with electric windows
Suspension bushes on the front
Rear brake shoes if not maintained correctly/ missed
Rattles and creaks

That said they are a solid car when looked after properly

Hi Rob,

It should mention in the service history when the cam belt/timing belt was renewed. As far as I know it's every 4 years.

I just bought a second hand 1.4 petrol and had the timing belt and water pump renewed as it hadn't been entered in the service history.. Just for my own peace of mind.
