6r/6c H E L P ! oil pump Chain cover ! Photo of damage .how did it occur??

Putting my engine back together (after 6x bent valves) on 1.2 CGPB engine….. found this damage on the lug on the bottom of the camchain cover, that runs between oil pump chain? How had this occurred?… any suggestions will be great fully received.

Well, I'm gonna state the obvious, something hit it, probably made out of metal.
Now you say you have some bent valves. Did the timing chain come off? What happened to this poor engine to start with?

Well it’s like this…… bought non runner… opened it up……
