Engine compatibility help

Hi all,
Looking for the forum knowledge database here , so my 2007 9n3 1.4 16v BUD 80bhp engined daily has a tired engine so I’m looking to replace it with a good used item ( the car is not worth new/ recon unit IMO).
My question is - what if any other engine codes are a direct replacement for the BUD if I can’t find a good used item ? Seat , Skoda and vw all used this type of engine and they are visually similar.
I fully understand a BUD would be best but they seam not so common
