Help with radio upgrade 2013 1.2 match edition

We have just bought our son his first car, 2013 1.2 match edition polo and are looking to upgrade the head unit in it for him so he has apple CarPlay etc. the one fitted currently is RCD310 with DAB and reverse sensors so the replacement needs to have these as well. The cars has tpk fitted as well which we will probably be looking to remove as we would want the new unit to cover handsfree via CarPlay.
Can anyone point us in the right direction what head unit should we be looking at? Can you fit them yourself (plug and play) or do they need installation?
