Hi! one of my polo front wheel bolts is thread stripped. I need to clean stripped threads in wheel hub using M14x1.5 taper. But I don't know if a 1/2" or 3/8" wrench fits taper head. If not, can someone recommend a tool? Thanks!

Well it might depend on the make of tap, my SKF M14 x 1.5mm taps are 8.8mm across the flats and 11.14 across the corners, so I'd think that you would need the 1/2" version, but most of these tap holders are listed with their capacity as either M? > M12 or M? > M14, in which case the size you need is obvious.

Just make sure that the hub thread is not so damaged that cleaning it up will result in it being too weak now as material will have been removed.

Like this for instance:- https://www.mad4tools.com/faithfull-tap ... ype-m4-m14

Use any old M14x1.5 bolt, and cut down few groves down the lenght of it. The depth should be just a little bit deeper than the thread.

it works

Yes but OP has bought an engineer's tap already, even using a suitable bihex socket could work.

I cut an old spark plug so that I could use it to clean carbon out of the plug hole - but that was when cylinder heads were cast iron!
