Window seals

Post by ccarmock »

On my Polo (9N3 2007 model) all 4 windows int he doors are suffering to some degree with a dried rubber seal the botton edge of the window. They are no longer supple, and pull away from the glass a little. This allows rain to run down the window into the door. Sometimes when I open a door after heavy rain a splash of water come out from the bottom.

Has anyone here replaced these rubber seals? Is there a guide anywhere?
Also can anyone let me know where these seals are available for a 9N3?

Thanks in advance.

Window weather strips or window seals are probably only available from vw dealership ,I have no idea of cost but shouldn’t be too expensive.
As for fitment they basically just push on to the top of the exterior door panel with the metal clips that are inside the weather strip,so removing them is just a case of pulling them off.

Hope that helps

Thansk for this - so literally they pull off and the new ones push into place? does any part of the door have to be disassembled to do it? or can it all be done without?

No need to dismantle anything, the outer seal fits as you describe.
Probably easiest with the window down imo
