Hi, I am having to unplug my RCD310 headunit temporarily from the 2013 polo bluemotion. (so I can get access to climate control module). Information I have is that the unit remembers the code according to my vehicle ECU, but still to avoid code hassles I need to unplug it with ignition on. And then later I can plug it back in, presumably with ignition on ? Can anybody confirm if this information is true or not (its from the VW T3/T4 forum) ?

Has this radio worked in this van before if so the vin will be stored in it so should auto learn without the need to enter codes. Something amiss here, your radio will read the code from your ecu and switch on, if it's not working then it will not have worked in your van in the past. So either it wasn't working in the first place or aomeone has swapped radios on you! I've been told that if you unplug the radio with the igntion on it will not require the code, the radio is s'posed to reason that as the igntion is on you must have the keys and therefore your not stealing it! I've not tried it myself but our Comms guy at work says it work”

It's fine to disconnect it and later re-connect it.
