Intermittent crank non start

Hi All,
As per title my 2007 1.4 BUD engined polo is trying my patience, randomly when I go to start I get no dash lights at all but it will crank but not start.I have headlights hazards but little else.
Now I thought ignition switch but all looks fine so I thought instrument cluster connections ?
I removed or tried to remove the IC, I can get the small green right hand connector off but for the life of me I can’t move the 8 pin black connector free ,it appears to but fused to the circuit board.
Could this be my issue, I’ve scanned the car and am getting a lot of lost communication errors in different control units which do clear,but I’m guessing will return when it fails to start again.
Any advice appreciated
