Toymachine1' Polo 6R Comfortline 1.2 TSI
Hey,
Bought Polo 6R 2010 Comfortline early in 2022. Got quite obsessed with the car. Since then I have done a few retrofits and upgrades such as:
- replaced original plastic steering wheel with a Passat MFSW.
- installed Polo 6C gear lever with grey stitching. Super cool.
- Installed led bar behind front bottom mask (to keep OEM look, but be able to see. I have halogen OEM lights)
- installed steel pedals
- retrofitted a used GTI cluster (6R0920870B) to have MFD+. Got this one from Australia to Finland. Sent it again for a one guy to move Immo data and do all the EEPROM magic.
- Retrofitted 7P6035730J Bluetooth module with OEM mic which is installed in OEM location and everything. This worked all good with my RCD-510 BEFORE I installed the GTI cluster.
- Changed RCD-510 from Blaupunk to Bosch. The Bosch version shows song titles, has far less BT bugs and the biggest reason I got it to be able to retrofit RVC.
- Ordered door sills for some protection and looks
- Vinyl wrapped the center interior parts with brushed steel look. Searched for GTI interior parts for way to long and decided to take another route with changing the boring Comfortline look.
Fixes done (in addition to changing filters and oil...):
- Oil leak fixed in the oil filter housing. Needed new sealant.
- Front spring broke, changed both and other related parts (OEM was good enough)
- Battery died, upgraded to 80Ah (yes it does fit but needed to modify the car a bit.) This was urgency fix during Christmas Eve and it was only battery I found.
Pending jobs:
- Install Chinese RVC
- install front PDC's, wiring and change the module
- Vinyl wrap rest of the interior parts (light switch and side vents)
- change rear lights to something better looking, probably 6C OEM
- Change rear bumper, probably 6R GTI
- Find 17" GTI Polo OEM rims for summer season
- Some rust here and there, probably get the whole car painted
- Engine has 198000KM, running well and maintained well always, but if any bigger hiccups probably doing some upgrades on that end.
- Paint front break calibers
- tint rear windows
- Audi S1 or some better seats some day
I am doing things slowly and taking time to find used parts with a good bargain. This car seems to be a very good hobby and balances stressful work well. Last year when I first drove Polo I was very surprised how well it drives.

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
Hey Iichel, appreciate your quick response. I am not seeing any bits related to BAP. Maybe those are undocumented in OBD11? Although not finding any bits related to those through fast googling. I will try to export some full report from the car by tomorrow.
Edit: according to quick research RCD 510 should always communicate using BAP?
Another edit: according to RossTech telephone retrofit guide my bt module should communicate using BAP

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
The RNS510 had some BAP related stuff in byte 7 and some of the BT modules have some BAP stuff in the adaptation channels

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
Hey, I think I've pretty much confirmed that communications by all the parts should be using BAP. There are no settings to alter related to that on RCD or BT module. Also communication somewhat works as both RCD and info cluster can see the BT module.
Did a full scan of the car with OB11, maybe some hints here what could be wrong? Altered the scan to add some typos as I was stopped by forum spam filter

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
The problem in the below topic seems to be same as mine. There was not solution found for operating the menu with stalks though. viewtopic.php?t=69586
I think we need to look at solution from how the integration between MFSW and stalks with the car differ. Could different stalks make a difference? I understood that some stalks have issues if a MFSW has been installed.

I think the solution is clear, install MFSW.

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
Yep I think I'll be doing that, but now need to have a small break from bigger retrofit stuff
Meanwhile I was thinking that I would try to code off instrument cluster in the GW module temporarily, to see if I could then pair my phone since MFD+ would be offline. Could this cause some issues with something? To pair the phone I would not even need to start the car, just have ignition on.
Also before ordering the wheel, I am thinking that I would try to flash my clusters SW from 0605 to 0607. (Any idea where to find change logs for SW versions?). Also need to find someone to do this job. I think this good step even if I would be to retrofit MFSW.
Then about MFSW, I kinda like the basic 6C MFSW (6C0419091E). I believe it should be fairly simple to retrofit. Now that I have the MFD stalk, do I need to run the two additional cables still as stated in the retrofit guide that can be found in these forums?
Thanks again.

I think it's easier to remove the 77 telephone from gateway, but I doubt it will solve your problem.

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
Most likely going for older Passat MFSW (3C8.959.538.F).
Those seem to be rather cheap with airbag and looming included, and also good enough looking for me. Ordered all the other stuff for completing the retrofit already, but need to wait until Monday to get confirmation if I can get the MFSW I have my eyes on now.
My plan of keeping break from working with the car has not been successful. While I wait for the new wheel I just keep the Bluetooth module completely deattached from the car so I can operate other MFD menu's.
Super interested in getting GRA_high activated. I have same ECU as MaDwArLoCk. Wonder if someone can share the information required to enable it on the SIMOS10.2? Could it also require EEPROM changes in the instrument cluster? On the adaptation channels I get message that it is not available.

It's just an adjustment in the ECU flash file.

So much stuff to read in the internet found this viewtopic.php?t=73189&start=30
I am a starter with all this so plenty of stuff to learn. Instructions there are clear, but is help still available for adjusting the ECU file? what about that HW and software?
Thanks.

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
My knowledge about this is only hypothetical. You need to read the full flash from your ECU (with a suitable tool) and know what to adjust. And then re-flash the adjusted flash file.
Reading a flash is something a tuner can do. Adjusting the flash file is not something I can directly recommend someone for.

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
Hmm after some studying I am not sure if the PQ46 steering wheel will work on PQ25 (easily). PQ46 seems to have control unit for MFSW somewhere else than inside the steering wheel, where it's located for example in Polo 6R GTI.
At first I thought that the buttons have some controller integrated to them, as airbag loom connects to the left side button directly, and not to a separate controller. Will read more tomorrow, but if someone has insights regarding this, then all the help would be much appreciated.
Update: indeed after 2009 the Passat MFSW button controller is located in steering wheel control unit, which is a separate box under the steering column. Wheels before 2009 have this module inside the steering wheel. So it remains still undecided which wheel I will get. Trying to get this together with a lower budget since I just want the functions to work.

Re: Retrofitted bt-module and MFD+. Now frozen on MFD Phone menu.
the 3C8 MFSW will work just fine on your Polo 6R. just remove or disconnect the MFA stalk buttons.
