Another Throttle body problem :(

Hi Guys and Gals,
My Girlfriends Mk4 Polo has been cutting out on start up and running lumpy for the past few months.
Anyway I have changed the oil and filters etc today and found that the butterfly on in the TB was gunged up as I thought it would be, anyway stripped the butterfly out and cleaned it all out with brake cleaner/degreaser.
Long story short, stuck it all back together, fire up fine now BUT
its ticking over at 1100 rpm (not choke) and when driving it seems to stick at 1300 rpm when braking (pretty dangerious) before dropping back to 1100 rpm.
Was speaking to someone in the car trade and they say it will need setting up on a machine??
Have I made a simple mistake?? and is there a simple solution.
Cheers
