Hello everybody,
I am looking at buying a replacement VW Polo.
Can you tell me please what the service interval is for checking and replacing a timing chain on a 2008 VW Polo 9N3 1.2 70 BHP, engine code BZG ?
The mileage is just under 140k miles and there is no history of a chain replacement or a check being done.
I have looked through a Haynes manual and the VW service schedule paperwork that is in the "wallet" with the car and I cannot find the answer.
Thanks,
Silver

Timing chains are usually fitted for the life of the engine,so this is why you are struggling to find a replacement interval.
Chains can and do stretch/fail if your in doubt and for piece of mind you can replace the kit.

Thanks CarbonChaos, for your reply.
It gives me a bargaining point on price of the car,
because It is a little bit noisy on start up.
If I buy it I will replace chain, tensioner etc. for my own piece of mind.
