Remote key central locking

I recently purchased a 2012 Polo S. It comes with two keys. It's a solid key with the VW logo. One of the key the VW logo appears to be a button but it doesn't actually unlock or lock the doors. I have to manually insert and turn to unlock and lock. Does anyone know if the car actually has unlocking functionality from the remote? even though there is a button on the key? Is there a way to check this?

Thanks

This 2011 Polo brochure at the link below mentions the S model has central locking (on page 9) but make no reference to it being remote. The Bluemotion (page 11) and Match models (page13) specifically make reference to remote central locking, so it’s probably safe to assume the S model’s central locking didn’t operate remotely from the key fob.

I think the key you have with a button might be a torch key like the one in the YouTube video at the link below (I had similar torch keys in the 1990’s for cars with (non-remote) central locking. The torch helps you to locate the keyhole when it’s dark, so you minimise the risk of missing the keyhole and scratching the paint around the keyhole.

Thank you. I think you are right. There seems to be a clear lens that looks like an LED on the side of the blade. LED isn't lighting up but I assume maybe battery is dead?

Seeing as the doors all unlock together, I would think it has central locking. Is there an aftermarket module I can install to get remote unlock?

Yes there are aftermarket kits out there that will do this I believe, they will use a dedicated remote so you will probably have to carry the original car’s key to start and the locking remote to unlock/lock the car but if your ok with that it seams quite a neat solution.
